First-aid is typically applied when an accident takes place which requires medical attention. The definition of accident is: “an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury.” An accident is the complete opposite of the fundamental intentions of a safety program – to find and fix hazards, and prevent incidents. These trained workers will also need to be equipped with the proper first-aid gear in order to successfully apply their training when called upon.
