The following is a list of the top 10 most frequently cited standards* from inspections of worksites by federal OSHA. OSHA publishes this list to alert employers about these commonly cited standards so they can take steps to find and fix recognized hazards addressed in these and other standards before OSHA shows up. A blast of arctic air packing the lowest temperatures in two decades descended on the Midwest on Monday and began a brutal plunge across most of the United States.

In most parts of the Midwest this week schools have been closed and residents have been warned to stay inside after reports of historically low temperatures threatening not just records but lives.
